Our Aims

Improving mental health through playground games.

About the Erasmus+ Project 2017-2020, entitled

»Improving Mental Health Through Playground Games«

Our Erasmus+ multilateral project, »Improving Mental Health Through Playground Games«, involves seven European schools:

  • Glenflesk NS, Killarney, Ireland

  • Primary School Number 7 in Jaworzno, Poland

  • Seventh Primary School Metamorfossis, Greece

  • OŠ Vižmarje Brod, Ljubljana, Slovenia

  • Centro San Juan Bosco – FP Juan Sole- Salesianos Cartagena, Spain

  • Sakiu »Varpo« mokykla, Šakiai, Lithuania

  • OGEC de L'Ecole Ste Anne, Etables sur mer, France

The primary focus of the project is on emotional education and mental health of students through the use of playground games. We will help children to develop and understand emotions such as happiness, sadness, anxiety, fear, nervousness, hope, disappointment etc... We will cover a range of emotions, both positive and negative, and explore these emotions through different medium using the curriculum. We will use art, music, poetry, drama, stories etc... in the playground games to engage the children in our programme of »Emotional education«.

This project aims to

  • Recognize and understand emotions, feelings and moods of one's self and others.

  • Express your emotions and feelings through different languages: verbal, corporal, gestural, plastic and musical.

  • Valuing and respecting one's own and others' feelings and emotions by developing non-discriminatory attitudes

  • Establish affective bonds with equals and with adults.

  • Develop strategies to regulate one's emotions.

  • Acquire skills to help others, cooperate and work as a team.

  • Use oral language to resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner and reach agreements.

  • Develop self-aware knowledge and positive self-esteem.

  • Participate in the proposed activities, respecting the established norms and asking for help when you need it.

  • Have as much fun as possible playing games

The impact of the project

The expected outcomes of the project are not necessarily academic. They apply to children, teenagers and adults in all aspects of their life within an educational setting and other settings. Therefore we hope our project will have a lifelong impact on those who are involved and it may hopefully have an impact on many people who are not directly involved in our project.

We consider it a valuable challenge to work from the perspective of a common European identity, now that we are going through change in our European Union.

Presenting work to the local community through performances, visiting Community Hospitals, exhibitions, selling of comics and books, will raise the profile and develop the standing of each school within the local and the educational communities.
